Knowledge Work Plugins are Anthropic’s ready-made plugins for non-engineering jobs. Install the sales plugin and Claude gets instructions for prospect research and call prep, slash commands such as /sales:call-prep, and connections to tools like HubSpot and Slack. The README says they were built for Claude Cowork and also work in Claude Code.

What it does (plain English)

Each plugin bundles four kinds of parts for one job function:

  • Skills: the domain know-how and step-by-step workflows Claude draws on automatically.
  • Commands: actions you trigger by name, for example /finance:reconciliation or /product-management:write-spec.
  • Connectors: MCP connections to the tools that role uses.
  • Sub-agents: helpers Claude can hand part of a task to (Cowork and Claude Code only).

Everything is Markdown and JSON files. The README stresses there is no code, infrastructure or build step, so you can open a plugin and edit it.

The README introduces 11 plugins Anthropic open-sourced:

The marketplace has grown past that table. Its catalog file listed 123 entries on 2026-10-18: 22 plugins stored in the repository (adding engineering, design, human-resources, operations, small-business, brand-voice and others) plus about 100 partner plugins from companies such as Zapier, Figma, Canva, Box, Dropbox and Miro.

Is it for you?

Yes, if you work in one of these roles and use Claude for real work rather than one-off questions. The plugins are a strong starting point, and the README is clear that they get much better when you customize them: swap in your tools, add your terminology, change workflows to match how your team works.

If you are a solo user who only chats occasionally, a plugin may be more than you need; a single skill or connector is simpler.

What you can do with it

  1. Prep a sales call. Install sales, connect your CRM, then run /sales:call-prep before a meeting.
  2. Write a spec. With product-management, run /product-management:write-spec and point Claude at the research notes.
  3. Search everything at once. enterprise-search answers one question across Slack, Notion, Jira and other connected tools.
  4. Daily planning. The productivity plugin’s skills (start, update, task-management, memory-management) keep a running picture of your tasks and context.
  5. Make your own. cowork-plugin-management walks you through creating a plugin for a role the set does not cover.

How to set it up

claude.ai or the Claude desktop app

  1. Go to Customize > Plugins.
  2. Select Discover, open the plugin you want and select Add. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner decides which sources members see.
  3. Open the plugin’s Connectors tab. Each connector shows Connected, Not connected or Not added; connect the ones you use. The skills load either way, but a skill cannot reach a service until its connector shows Connected.
  4. Type / in the message box and pick a command, or just describe the task.

Plugins you add here are saved to your account and also appear in Cowork and, as synced plugins, in Claude Code.

Claude Code

  1. Run claude plugin marketplace add anthropics/knowledge-work-plugins
  2. Run claude plugin install sales@knowledge-work-plugins (or any plugin name from the table).
  3. Use commands such as /sales:call-prep in a session.

We installed productivity@knowledge-work-plugins this way in Claude Code 2.1.302 on 2026-10-18. claude plugin details listed 4 skills and 9 MCP servers (Slack, Notion, Asana, Linear, Atlassian, monday, ClickUp, Google Calendar, Gmail) and about 354 tokens of always-on context. We did not connect the services or run a task.

Watch out for

  • Connector placeholders. In the productivity plugin’s .mcp.json, the Google Calendar and Gmail entries had an empty URL in the copy we read. In claude.ai, connect those through the regular Google connectors instead.
  • Partner plugins are third-party code. The marketplace name is in Anthropic’s official tier, but partner entries point to the vendors’ own repositories. Read the details pane before installing.
  • Commands in chat. Agents only work in Cowork and Claude Code. In claude.ai chat a command loads as a skill.
  • Data reaches each service. Every connector you turn on gives Claude access to that account with your permissions. Connect only what the role really needs.
