This repository is a big shelf of subagents: specialist helpers that Claude Code can hand a task to. Anthropic’s docs describe a subagent as running in its own context window with a custom system prompt, its own tool access and its own permissions, then returning a summary. Each one here is a single Markdown file you can read in a minute.
What it does (plain English)
VoltAgent’s collection groups agents into 10 category folders, and each folder is also an installable plugin:
| Plugin | Category | Agent files we counted |
|---|---|---|
voltagent-core-dev | Core development (API designer, backend, frontend, mobile) | 13 |
voltagent-lang | Language specialists | 30 |
voltagent-infra | Infrastructure and DevOps | 16 |
voltagent-qa-sec | Testing, security, code quality | 18 |
voltagent-data-ai | Data engineering, ML, AI | 13 |
voltagent-dev-exp | Developer tooling and docs | 16 |
voltagent-domains | Blockchain, fintech, games and other domains | 16 |
voltagent-biz | Product, legal, business | 18 |
voltagent-meta | Multi-agent coordination | 12 |
voltagent-research | Research and analysis | 11 |
That is 163 files in the copy we checked on 2026-10-18; the README says “161+”.
Each file follows Claude Code’s subagent format: a name, a description that tells Claude when to delegate, an optional tools list, then the instructions. For example, assumption-mapping in the business category is limited to reading, writing, searching files and the web, and its instructions walk through four kinds of product risk.
Is it for you?
The business category is a reason non-developers might look here. It includes product-manager, project-manager, business-analyst, ux-researcher, technical-writer, content-marketer, landing-page-copywriter, legal-advisor and scrum-master. If you use Claude Code to run a small product or a side business, these give Claude a clear role for a task.
Skip it if you only use claude.ai chat. Subagents work in Claude Code and Cowork, not chat.
What you can do with it
- Product thinking. Install
voltagent-biz, then: “Use the assumption-mapping agent on my idea in idea.md and rank the riskiest assumptions.” - Landing page copy. “Ask the landing-page-copywriter agent for three headline options for this page.”
- Language help. Install
voltagent-langand ask for a specific expert, for example a PHP or Python specialist. - Install by conversation. Copy the repo’s
agent-installer.mdinto~/.claude/agents/, then ask: “Use the agent-installer to show me available categories.” - Force a specific agent. Claude Code supports @-mentions such as
@"product-manager (agent)" review this roadmap, which guarantees that agent runs.
How to set it up
As a plugin (the README’s recommended route)
- In your shell, run
claude plugin marketplace add VoltAgent/awesome-claude-code-subagents. It registers asvoltagent-subagents. - Run
claude plugin install voltagent-biz@voltagent-subagents(swap in any plugin name from the table). The README shows the shorterclaude plugin install voltagent-biz; the full@voltagent-subagentsform is what Anthropic’s docs use for third-party marketplaces. - Start or reload Claude Code and ask for the agent by name.
As plain files
- Download the agent
.mdfiles you want from thecategoriesfolders. - Put them in
~/.claude/agents/for every project, or in.claude/agents/inside one project (commit that folder to share with your team). - Restart Claude Code the first time you create an agents folder; after that, changes are picked up automatically.
The README also offers an interactive installer script, install-agents.sh, which you can run from a clone or download with curl.
What we saw when installing
On 2026-10-18 in Claude Code 2.1.302, the marketplace add and voltagent-biz install both succeeded and claude plugin validate passed. But claude plugin details voltagent-biz@voltagent-subagents listed 0 agents in its inventory, even though the plugin’s plugin.json names 18 agent files. We did not start a session to check whether the agents load. After installing, ask Claude to list available agents, and if yours are missing, use the plain-file route.
Watch out for
- Third-party code. Anthropic does not review this marketplace. Agents are instructions, but 119 of the 163 files we checked give the agent the Bash tool, which runs shell commands. Read an agent’s
toolsline before you rely on it. - The download-and-run installer. Running a shell script fetched with
curlexecutes it with your permissions. Read it first, or copy files by hand. - Sponsored content. The README carries sponsor listings. The maintainers say they do not accept pull requests that mainly promote a product.
- Name clashes. If two agents share a name, Claude Code picks by location priority: project
.claude/agents/beats your user folder, which beats plugin agents.
Alternatives
- wshobson/agents: bigger, with skills and commands bundled alongside agents.
- Claude Code Templates: an npx installer that copies agents, commands, hooks and settings.
- Writing your own: ask Claude Code to create a subagent; Anthropic’s docs show the format.
